Everyone had the prerogative to have a little fun at Downtown Sounds with JD Leonard’s Decades of Country. The Friday night vibes had people wanting to ride the feeling all night long.
JD Leonard’s Decades of Country is an eclectic, high-energy and dynamic celebration of some of country music’s greatest hits from the ’80s to today! Decades of Country is designed to take you on a trip down memory lane and bring you to a place where new memories are made. JD Leonard is backed by some of Long Island’s seasoned musicians.
The band played a mix of country music, from recent hits by Shaboozey to Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown Band and Dolly Parton. Before long, line dancing broke out and people were out of their seats joining in. Attendees were two-stepping in the streets, they didn’t need a dance floor.
After his time away recovering from some health issues, Glen Cove’s own Richie Cannata was back on the Downtown Sounds stage! Welcomed on stage as a special guest of the band, Cannata joined in for a few songs, filling the town with the warm tones of his saxophone.
Money can’t buy happiness, but it could buy you a delicious snack or meal from one of downtown’s locally owned restaurants during the concert. Looking for a cold beer on a Friday night? There are multiple options for beer or a fruity little drink throughout town. You can even get a coupon for Mad Chicken or Noble Savage Brewing Co in the Downtown Sounds program.
You can tumble out of bed and stumble to Downtown Sounds every Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in July and August. Next week’s concert, Aug. 22, will rock you with ‘70s music by Vinyl Revival. The concert will open at 7 p.m. with a performance by professional singer, actress and songwriter Amelia Milo will open Aug. 22’s Downtown Sounds concert. Milo starred as Christine in a production of “The Phantom of the Opera” in Italy last year and has performed with Andrea Bocelli on numerous occasions in the United States and Europe.
