DOWNTOWN HALLOWEEN PARADE BREWED WONDERS
Glen Cove, NY- The wonderful Halloween weather rallied a wide assortment of heroes and villains to come join in the festivities, as the Glen Cove Downtown Business Improvement District’s yearly Halloween parade transformed School and Glen Streets into the trick or treat hotspot. The celebration began at noon with The Regency Assisted Living’s exhilarating Spooky Story Hour. At around 1 P.M. the marchers banded together to parade through the streets of Downtown Glen Cove. The children then partook in the trick-or-treating ritual by visiting the welcoming merchants.
Children were slipping and sliding, climbing and running all over the insides of The Fun Bus, while thrilling music was blaring through the DJ’s speakers. The Jack O’ Lantern Hole in One Mini Golf & the Witches Broom Race Contest captured everyone’s attention which resulted in over a hundred prizes won. The children were also provided with an unlimited supply of Cotton Candy to taste throughout the entire Halloween Parade festivities. This year’s Costume Contest sparked wide controversy among the judges but after a tough deliberation, the top first place winners included: “Cowboy & Indian”, “Nutcracker Suite” Gianna and Salvatore DiMaggio and Daniella Bencivenni and “Froot Loops” Vera Glouchkov. Furthermore, the second place winners included: “Pig & Wolf”. “Shimmer & Shine” Aaliyah and Zaya Dubois and “Traveler in a Hot Air Balloon” Stephania Martinez. The Glen Cove B.I.D. would like to thank our judges, Julie Papas of ClayNation, Dr. Mariya Malin of One & Only Dental and Tatiana of PetSmart for their services as judges.
To top it all off there was a Pie Eating Contest with six delicious apple pies that were devoured quickly but not as quick as first place winner, Michaela Adam, who cleaned her palate in sixty seconds with no assistance from her helping hands. BRAVO!
The Glen Cove Downtown Business Improvement District would like to thank the members of the Glen Cove DECA Club for their assistance, and our most generous sponsors: One & Only Dental, Planet Fitness, ClayNation, Glen Floors, Mathnasium of Glen Cove, Regency Assisted Living at Glen Cove, PetSmart, Gill Associates Photography, AMC Glen Cove 6 Theatres and Starbucks, as well as all of our participating merchants.
