Congratulations! The Regency celebrated its 30th anniversary with a ribbon cutting.
The ceremony took place on June 20 where The Regency was awarded by organizations including the Glen Cove Downtown Business Improvement District (B.I.D.) and The Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce as well as a few local elected officials: Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton and Assemblymember Charles Lavine and Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck.
When The Cove Theatre closed, the community was upset to have lost a landmark. In 1993, The Regency took over the building and created a new staple in downtown Glen Cove. The Regency is an Assisted Living Residence (ALR) with an Enhanced Assisted Living Residence (EALR) license. The home describes itself as providing a “vibrant lifestyle” where residents can “comfortably age in place.”
Throughout its tenure, The Regency has been a supporter of the Glen Cove Downtown B.I.D., sponsoring events such as the Halloween Parade and Festival, the Holiday Festival and Downtown Sounds.
“The B.I.D. has historically had a strong relationship with The Regency, and we appreciate its support,” said B.I.D. Executive Director Jill Nossa. “We wish them many more prosperous years ahead.”
For the anniversary, The Regency was transformed into a festive hall filled with residents and music. During the event Executive Director, Stella Shank, awarded and thanked some notable members of the staff including, the dining room supervisor, the wellness department heads, the housekeeping supervisor and the maintenance team. The home also acknowledged residents who had been there the longest, each with a flower corsage.
