‘Tis the season to be Downtown! Glen Cove kicked off the holiday season with The Glen Cove Downtown BID’s annual Holiday Festival in Village Square.
Elves of all kinds gathered downtown to enjoy a magical day. Kids were able to take a ride on a choo-choo train or a horse and carriage, decorate stockings and ornaments, and send letters to Santa. Everyone was able to warm up for free with Henry’s hot cocoa, Starbucks coffee, and tasty treats. Rallye Lexus had a table handing out yummy cookies and Carrion Attorneys, PLLC spread holiday cheer by handing out Santa hats. People also got in a little holiday shopping with the Deep Roots Holiday Marketplace. Even Santa was in attendance taking some time off to take photos with kids and families.
Beautiful performances filled the square throughout the festival. Musical performances featured some ensembles: Glen Cove High School (GCHS) Jazz Band, GCHS Orchestra, GCHS Select Chorale, GC Finley Middle School Chorus, La Voz De Dios from St. Patrick’s Church, and St. Dominic Choir. Soloists: Elena Quinones, a 17-year-old from Sacred Heart Academy, Heather Alvarado, a GCHS senior and her trio group SSA Quartet, featuring senior Paloma Supica and junior Sophia Diaz alongside Heather.
Guests were also treated to an early look at the upcoming productions at Jazz Hands Children’s Theatre and North Shore Village Theatre. Musical performances were broken up with exciting routines by Let’s Make Music and Dance, St. Dominic Dance Company, and GCHS Kickline.
The Festival came to a dazzling ending when The City of Glen Cove sang carols and lit the Christmas tree.
