LED Lighting Coming to Downtown Glen Cove
Many of our property owners and businesses have complained about the lack of lighting in our downtown area. There have been many request for more lighting in an effort to make the downtown streets more inviting and safe after dark.
During a Glen Cove Downtown BID Board meeting this concern was brought to the attention of our Deputy Mayor Maureen Basdavanos . Less than a year later Mayor Tenke and our Deputy Mayor is presenting Downtown Glen Cove with a solution .
Mayor Tenke is working with the New York Power Authority regarding the City’s participation in the State’s Smart Lighting NY Program. This project would be at no cost to the tax payers of Glen Cove as the installation costs are covered by the difference of the annual savings from the new LED lighting. The LED lighting will not only save tax payers money but will also increase energy efficiency and increase public safety .
Thank you Mayor Tenke and Deputy Mayor Basdavanos for listening and acting on our concerns. We look forward to a brighter downtown .
