The weather may be cooling, but the warm colors of autumn are lining the streets of Downtown Glen Cove.
The Glen Cove Downtown Business Improvement District refreshed its landscapes with fall plantings. A total of 276 chrysanthemums and 252 kale plants were purchased by the Downtown BID and planted by Testa Landscaping throughout areas of the downtown that are maintained by the BID.
Every year the Downtown BID purchases plants and décor at a wholesale price from the nursery and offers its members a discounted rate on these items so they can decorate their storefronts for a lower cost. Many businesses take advantage of this, including The Regency, Glen Cove Fitness, Minuteman Press, and Glen Floors.
Other decorations have popped up downtown to compliment the new fresh florals. Ralph Comitino and Alberto Calderon of Glen Cove’s Department of Public Works installed the BID’s scarecrows on lamp posts throughout downtown and other businesses are donned in autumn decorations.
You can enjoy the festive vibes downtown with a warm soup at local restaurants, something tasty to sip on and much more. Scope out some of the fall fun activities and specials at the locally owned businesses on the BID’s website and social media.
