Healthy Meals Direct: A Fresh Fast Food Option

Quick meal options that are also nutritious are generally hard to come by, causing many people to default to fast food. Healthy Meals Direct, which just opened a storefront on Bridge Street in downtown Glen Cove, solves the dilemma for those in need of a fresh, portion-controlled breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Owner and executive chef Michael Flemming, a resident of Farmingville, opened his first store in Ronkonkoma in 2009, and has since expanded to 12 locations across Long Island. The Glen Cove storefront opened in March, with the ribbon cutting and grand opening on May 15.

Healthy Meals Direct offers more than 200 meal options that accommodate a variety of goals, including weight loss, muscle gain, or just simply eating healthy. All meals are made fresh daily using all-natural ingredients high in protein, fiber and antioxidants. Gluten-free, keto and low carb options are also available. Customers can opt for weekly meal delivery or can simply purchase meals from the store’s refrigerator as needed to take home or to the office to microwave. Breakfast items include overnight oats, parfaits and wraps, while lunch and dinner options range from a variety of flavorful rice bowls or pastas to dumplings and vegetables, including a pulled chicken taco bowl or whole wheat baked ziti with ground turkey.

At the ribbon cutting, Flemming accepted citations from the Glen Cove Downtown Business Improvement District, Glen Cove Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck and the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce.

“On behalf of the Glen Cove Downtown BID, we thank you for investing in our downtown,” Glen Cove BID Executive Director Patricia Holman said. “Having healthy meal options is a wonderful addition to our downtown community, and we wish you years of success.”

Healthy Meals Direct is open Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Go to healthymealsdirect.com for more information.
