Lecture with Maritime Historian and Author Adam Grohman

In February 1927, the WT Bell ran aground in Bayville during a great storm. The crew was rescued, and local residents discovered that the ship was a ‘rumrunner’ hauling one of the largest shipments of illegal scotch and whiskey ever to hit the north shore of Long Island. Townsfolk and local bootleggers made away with 125 barrels before authorities secured the site.
