Downtown Sounds kicked off with a performance by Sir Duke on July 7. Sir Duke filled the downtown area with Stevie Wonder songs that had people out of their seats and up on the dance floor.
Formed in the summer of 2013, Sir Duke quickly became an instant hit as New York’s ultimate Stevie Wonder tribute band. The band features nine stellar musicians, featuring a tight rhythm section that has played together for over fifteen years!
Attendees were treated as Richie Cannata joined in with his saxophone to play along to a few songs.
Prior to the concert, the Teen Idol contest had its first night with performances by all four contestants: Tatiana Andino-Mendez, Charlotte Dilgard-Clark, Stasia Kulpa and Tammy Pattugalan.
This is the second year the Teen Idol contest is being held at Downtown Sounds. The Teen Idol contest is open to Gold Coast residents ages 13 to 18, Downtown Sounds Teen Idol showcases local emerging talent, and the top finalists will perform live during the Downtown Sounds 2023 concert series.
