Dancing Dream to Perform the Music of ABBA at the Glen Cove Village Square
The music of ABBA will be featured when Dancing Dream plays on week seven of the Downtown Sounds concert series at the Glen Cove Village Square Plaza on Aug. 16, produced by the Downtown Business Improvement District (BID). Known as the world’s most authentic ABBA tribute band, Dancing Dream performs all of the greatest hits of the legendary supergroup from Sweden. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
ABBA is a Swedish pop group formed in Stockholm in 1972. The band’s name is an acronym of the first letters of the names of its founders, wife/husband duos of Agnetha Fältskog and Björn Ulvaeus, and Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. From 1974 to 1982, ABBA was one of the most commercially successful acts in the history of popular music topping the charts with hits like “Dancing Queen,” Take a Chance on Me,” “Fernando” and “Knowing Me Knowing You.” What is more, a new generation of fans came aboard when the band’s music was featured in Mamma Mia!, a musical romantic comedy film and Broadway play that was first released in 2008.
Dancing Dream has electrified fans with their performances of ABBA’s greatest hits since they were formed in 2009. Based in New York City, the touring tribute act was founded by European singers Halina Ulatowski and Agnes Jawien. Their goal was to transport nostalgic audiences back to the happy groovy times of the ‘70s. In their first year, they were featured with comedian Stephen Colbert on “The Colbert Report,” an appearance that helped them land gigs in large venues all across the nation. For example, they have played in theaters, colleges and popular clubs while touring Florida in addition to playing outdoor concerts at Scandinavian festivals in California, North Dakota, New York and New Jersey. They also perform frequently at the Empire Casino, Resorts World Casino and BB King’s in Times Square.
Dancing Dream’s team of seasoned musicians and talented singers has earned its reputation by taking audience members on nostalgic trips through the glitz and glamour of the ‘70s. Their beautiful harmonies, elaborate costumes and exciting choreography have electrified fans throughout the country. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness their debut performance in Glen Cove at Downtown Sounds 2019.
